Knowledge In Development Lab
The University of Alabama

Welcome! Our main area of interest is in children’s cognitive development, specifically in the development of their imagination, conceptual development and executive functions. Our studies explore children’s beliefs in fantastical entities,  like Santa Claus and imaginary friends, and investigate how children develop the ability to use scientific reasoning skills, testimony from other people, their existing world knowledge and social interactions to distinguish reality from fantasy. We are also actively examining how these cognitive abilities, along with social skills like self-regulation, help prepare preschoolers for success in elementary school. We design and test socioemotional interventions to help children be best prepared for school. Feel free to contact us at any time!
